So on Sunday, Range and I went for our daily, after work walk around my condo. Then as we were walking, Range see's another dog, a Jack Russel being walked by his owner. So as we catch each others eyes, (the dog owner), I ask her if Range can say "Hi!" because he loves to say "Hi!" to other dogs all the time and I've never seen her before with her Jack Russel. So she asks, "Is he a boy or a girl?" and I answer, "He's a boy." and she says, "Okay."

So as I get closer, and Range starts to smell the Jack Russel, the Jack Russel starts back up a little bit, then lunges at Range's left ear and gets a good hold of it and starts wanting to rip his ears off shaking his head side to side.
OMG!! I try not to panic while Range is yelping his lungs out. But I try not to pull on Range or else that dog will have a chunk of Range's ear and cause more damage. So the lady starts hitting her dog's mouth to let go and after a minute, the Russel finally let's go.

Range hides behind my leg, and I check his ears and it's not bleeding, but has bite marks. His ears are pretty thick, so I stand back up and ask the lady, "The hell? Does your dog do that a lot?" and she replies, "Sometimes. Is he okay? I didn't..." I interrupt her and was like, "NEXT TIME, just say NO! when someone asks you if their dog wants to say, hi! (I wanted to say STUPID! But I wanted to stay civilized.) I can report you and your dog and you can get in trouble for letting your dog bite other dogs. Especially if this isn't the first time. I think you need to even put a muzzle on him." I told her. And she apologizes some more, but I just walk away with Range. Range of course forgets about what happened and starts smelling his normal route in our walk. But when we got back home I cleaned his ears.

The hell? That's never happened to me with any dog owner before. USUALLY, if a dog Owner knows their dog is aggressive, they would never let their own dog try to harm another dog. Even if it was my own Range. SO STUPID!! I was SO mad!! I totally learned my lesson not to trust ALL dog owners to not be stupid!! Sorry, I know not all are, but this one was!! I just needed to vent! What that Russel needs right now is some therapy and good training. I almost feel sorry for him.

I think I would've freaked out if that happen to Juneaux!!! She actually used to get into fights with my inlaw's yorkie and min. schnauzer, but she totally dominated and now chases them around when we go over. Glad Range is ok:) Crazy small breeds!

Thanks everyone! I agree, Range does seem to like playing with bigger dogs. It's either Range is too rough with the small dogs or the small dogs tend to just annoy range. But with the bigger dogs, he's perfect! There's a park near my boyfriend's house and a Beautiful Doverman plays there and Range and him just run around in circles together chasing each other. It's cute! Thanks everyone for the comments and I'll keep that in mind about smaller dogs too! I NEVER KNEW!!

Superstar, we also prefer the large dog area and get those questions too! Sidney would much rather play with the big dogs.
I'm glad Range is OK. Please keep a close eye on that ear of his. I would have been SO mad if someone let their dog bite my SIdney!

When I go to the doggy park, i avoid small dog areas because i know that all bratty little dogs are there. Larger dogs seems to be more sensitive towards Superstar, believe it or not. I sometimes get those people complaining about every little thing like Superstar should not be in the large dog area. I dont care.

I can certainly understand why you're mad, I personally tend to stay away from the smaller breed area at the dog park, my experience with them have been "barky" and "aggressive", a lot of owners tend to just "let them be" and get away with a lot of things. A lot of owners are blinded by their sheer size and think that bigger dogs can defend themselves and automatically let their guard down, when their smaller breed dogs get mad and growl, they think is "funny" and laught it off :( I'm sure there are responsible small breed owners out there, so don't let this incident get to you, live and learn right?

Stupid isn't the word for her!!!! Idiot is more like it. I'm glad to hear that Range wasn't hurt to bad, and managed to shake it off.
