After kids went to bed, we took Zena to my office on the second floor. We decided to use pee pee pads for first a couple of days so I placed the pee pee pad right next to her crate. Surprisingly, she went in and out of her new crate. Well she did not stay long but I was happy to see her going in on her own. I thought about using a travel crate from my breeder but I got the another small one. I started to be concerned that she has not peed until the midnight. My wife sent to bed. She was willing to stay with me but I thought that at least one person should get some sleep. Zena couldn't seem to fall a deep sleep. She just woke up on any small sounds we made. She did not get startled or anything but held her head up to see what's going on. Also, I noticed that her heart was beating really fast probably due to slight dehydration. After all, she did not have any water from about 6 am till 6pm. It was almost 2 am and I still sat on the floor reading a book (of course about "how to raise a puppy") and scratching her. Luckily my touch seemed to make her relaxed. When I was not touching her, she seemed to enjoy staying on the pee pee pad.
It was 4 am. I could not stay up any more. I felt very sleepy. I pushed her into her crate and turned off the light. I lied down on the futon in my office. I could see/hear her coming out of her crate (I left the door open) and walking around. All of sudden, no sound at all. I could barely see her that she did not really lie down. So, I turned on the light immediately. Here we go. Finally she peed. She missed her pee pee pad by several inches. Well, I can't say that I was all happy but I was very relieved to see her finally pee. I cleaned up the floor and put her in the crate again. This time I locked the door and felt asleep. I don't know whether she whined, cried or barked. It was 4:30AM and I just passed out. I woke up around 6:30 AM and took her down to the kitchen area. We limited her access area to a kitchen and foyer. She already spent several hours yesterday and she seemed to be okay. I took her out for potty. Of course no success. However, she managed to eat her breakfast. Also, no success on potty after the meal. To tell you the truth, I don't remember much about the first day. I just remember that I sat on the floor and padded her a lot. She did not seem mind at all and actually stayed next to me showing her belly so that I can scratch her belly. So there was our first night/day together.
