I am not the only one who is getting anxous for our corgi. Our German Shepard Rusty is starting to suffer from an only dog syndrome.
He has grown up with two other dogs. Now that it is just my boyfriend, myself, and my cat he is having a hard time adjusting. Although the days we are both at work we take him to visit his old pack while we are gone. There is a total of four days (because my BF and I work different shifts) that he is home with one of us. Now we try our best to be entertaining,Is there such a thing as getting fetch elbow? but we are only good for so much fun. I feel like our efforts to play don't entertain him for very long. In fact his efforts to find a play mate have become so desperate that he has gone to trying to enlist the cat in games. He doesn't understand why the cat doesn't want to play. This scenario has replayed itself several times with a little variation.
Rusty: Starts with a cordial offer to play "a good game of tug?" by offering her the other end of his rope toy.
Cat: turns up nose
Rusty: If that doesn't work, a quick tug on the tail should encourage her to play.
Bella: highly offended
Rusty: still not comprehending the danger, frustrated by the lack of enthusiasm gives the cat a gentle push
and then rolls the toy toward Bella.
Bella: now offended and disgruntled by this brut behavior and displeased by the
offering unleashes a verbal tirade and a vicious swat and retreats to the comfort of the top
of the fridge.
Rusty: completely bewildered by the over reaction to an offer to play, retrieves his rope to see of anyone
else will play.
I am not sure that i will have peace with the addition of our corgi, but i am beginning to think dangerous thoughts about bringing a little balance into the house. i think the weather might be making me crazy. To our puppy in the world, please come quickly! Hope everyone has a Wonderful Holidays!
