Ramblin’ Boy (Tom Paxton)
He was a pal, and a friend always,
He stuck with me in my hard old days,
He never cared if I had no dough,
We rambled ‘round in the rain and snow.
So here’s to you, my ramblin’ boy,
May all your ramblin’ bring you joy.
Here’s to you, my ramblin’ boy,
In a mean old town we chanced to stray;
We thought we’d try and work one day.
The boss said he had room for one;
Said my old pal, “We’d rather bum”.
Late one night in a jungle camp
Wintry weather, cold and damp,
He got the chills, and he got ‘em bad.
They took the only pal I had.
He’s left us here to ramble on.
Our old pal, he’s dead and gone.
If when we die we go somewhere,
I’ll bet you a dollar he’s ramblin’ there.
I am so sorry for your loss of Tod.
Rest in peace...
miss you TOD!
I am sending you a huge e-hug right and a shoulder to cry on. I wish I could give it to you in person. My heart aches for you. Tod was, and is, so loved. I know it is tough right now but try to focus on the wonderful life you shared together and not his passing. He wouldn't want you to be sad. I wish I could find the words to help ease the pain but I know the hurt having lost two of my own this past year. I'm lighting a candle in his memory. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. RIP Tod, find my Heston and Brynner on the other side of the Bridge and play happily together until we all meet again.
So sorry for your loss of Tod. He knew how much he was loved......
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...
I am crying so hard for you. I am so, so sorry. I just can't imagine the pain you are going through. I am glad that you had some time with him to say goodbye, and know that you did the right thing for him. I will be praying for you and your family that time will ease your pain. *hug*
