My dh, aka G, loves playing with the laser pointer with Tasha. He has been seeing "remote control things" on tv lately. He wanted me to ask if there is some sturdy activity toy out there that he could get Tasha for Christmas. The weather is awful here, plus being very cold, so walks (or runs) are few and far between. Tasha sleeps a lot and seems bored except for Tuesdays when she goes to Doggy Camp and plays with her friends.

Short of getting another puppy, we are trying to be creative in ways to get her more exercise. Any thoughts?

Lilly went absolutely bonkers for her "babble ball" it says lots of little phrases in a high pitched sing-gon voice (but not so loud to drive me crazy) The minute we find it she can hardly contain herself.

I picked up the hamster ball at a discount store (family dollar or deal$, can't remember) for around 5 dollars. I imagine you could find one at a kid's toy store as well. And if all else fails Amazon sells them for $5 http://www.amazon.com/Hamusuta-0231-Happy-Hamster-Ball/dp/B000NPGMOU And if you're a caregiver or student you can get a year of Amazon Prime for free. haha this all makes me sound like such a cheapskate!

Aww, Australian Shepherds are great dogs.

Erin: Thank you for those suggestions. I've bookmarked them and will go back and look closer. I wonder if the Hamster in the ball can be bought in a local store. My daughter has a new puppy too and this might be a good Christmas gift for him. His name is Shadow and he's a busy Australian Shepherd!

Hey LouAnne

Ruckus did have a zuzu pet which loved until he snuck it into his crate and destroyed it when no one was watching. More successful is the toy hamster in a ball like this guy - http://tinyurl.com/2f6oak6 - which he bats around the house and barks at. It's more of an energy drainer for him since he can't pick it up or pin it in place like he did with the zuzu. I do still have to keep an eye on him when he plays with it, though, because he sometimes breaks open the plastic ball and runs away with the hamster.

I am thinking of picking up one of these sometime soon - http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/pets/dcd0/ - an automatic pet laser toy. I haven't used one yet so I can't say for sure if it works or not, but it does seem like a good idea.

You might also want to check out some puzzles for Tasha to keep her stimulated - http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/pets/dd03/

Good luck!

Has anyone tried the zuzu pets with their corgi?

Hi LouAnne, find a responsible teenager in your neighbourhood, bribe him / her to walk Tasha, I'm sure the kids can handle the brutal winter of Antioch, CA :)

As far as "remote control things" goes, Mocha have totalled my beloved Ferrari 360 Modena, as you can see from the pictures below, the 400 bhp race car was no match for the angry beast. The insurance company said it'll be too expensive to replace the side mirror, windshield wiper assembly, engine bay hatch and a new paint job.
