well the gate finally came down today. chloe is loose in the house with my parents dogs and i'm kind of amazed at how well she is doing...how well they are all doing. after the initial intensity while they were checking each other out shiloh went back to his spot in my parents room and went back to sleep(he's old and sleeps a lot) and chloe and bandit actually layed down together. they started off on the couch and when i moved to the kitchen to get on the computer bandit followed me and layed down at my feet and chloe found bandits puppy toy he had stashed somewhere and brought it in with her and put it down next to him and layed down at my feet with him. it was so cute.
i'm so pround of her right now, this is the first time she ever been loose anywhere with another dog and she being so good.
i'm really amazed the bandit is being as good as he is. we have had him for 7 years now and even though he was raised with other dogs he's always been iffy about new ones. we got him as a rescue at 4 weeks old. the person who had the mother dropped the litter off at a shelter and lied about how old they were and of course nobody bother to check before the guy left. he was the smallest of the bunch, the last one left there and a rather ugly puppy actually, but my mom felt so bad when she saw him that we brough him home. we didn't actually find out how old he was until we took him to the vet the next day. i bottle fed him until he had enough teeth to eat soft food on his own. he missed out on all the social skills learned from being with his litter mates. the small amout he does have has come as a result of being raised with 3 other dogs.
the fact that chloe is aslo being so good makes me feel alot better about my decision to get her a little brother as soon as we get settled in.
