We had a very good weekend! I took Poppy out to lunch with me for the first time on Saturday and while she LOVES going for car rides, she freaks out around lots of other people and sounds. Everyone want to pet her because she is so cute, but she always tries to scamper away. Lunch was a bit rough, but she found shelter under the table and calmed down after about 20 minutes. We then went across the street to a high end pet store and she LOVED it there. I had never seen her go up to strangers to fast and lick them hello! That made me so happy! I chatted with a sales clerk for a while and ended up getting some Rescue Remedy, as it's been on my to-buy list for a while and it was priced comparatively with online retailers.
Yesterday, we went to Costco so I could get tires and all the sights and noises really scared her a lot. We sat outside so I could get food and I could just not calm her down, so we had to walk to the end of the parking lot where is was quiet and she calmed down a lot. We walked around the neighborhood for a while and then when we went to do laundry at my parents house, we met up with my friend and her dog, whom Poppy gets a long with well and we went for another walk. So by the time we got back to my place, Poppy was pooped out. Yay!! I had to run out to the market and get groceries, so I gave her some Rescue Remedy before I left. She seemed fine when I came back and jumped in the shower, a time when she usually barks her head off. When I got out, she was barking, but a lot less then usual.
When we went for our late night walk, she ate something off the ground and I freaked out and tried to get it out of her mouth, but she still got a bite of whatever it was, it seemed dough-y. She seems fine at the moment, but I am keeping an eye on her.
I gave her some more Rescue Remedy this morning in her food, which I give her when I am getting ready for work and put her in her pen. Usually she whines and barks and cries when she sees me getting ready, but today, NOTHING!!! I am so happy right now!
But then, as always, ask me again in the afternoon...
