What a cutie KC is. He'll certainly help fill a part of the hole that Rascal left in your hearts. The name is so fitting and he really looks like a KC!
How did the reunion go with your husband's cousin? I am still amazed that he has a cousin in this little town! What a small world. Around here everyone knows everyone in a way so that's not unusual, but half way accross the country???.........
Regardin the thunderstorms and loud noises. I think someone gave you a good pointer about getting a recording and play it really softly to begin with a few times, give him lots of treats as soon as he notices the sounds, but before he starts shaking or hiding. If he reacts quickly, the recording was probably too loud (it's always hard to remember that their hearing is much more sensitive than ours). Some dogs react to the drop in atmospheric pressure before a storm even happens. There are several good books in helping owners cope with noise sensitiviey. If you want I can recommend some.
a carpet sweeper attack dog could be fun. During a storm does he have to be really close. Our Muffin is afraid of thunder as well as really nervous when it rains.
Can't wait to see the pics of your new corgi. Funny that you will be going to KC to get him because after I get off work Thursday morning I going to head down to KC to pick up my Snowy. He left the handler out of Texas to go with this handler Sunday. She had showen him several times and has been very helpful.
I was realy saddened to hear that Rascal left for the Rainbow Bridge. Rascal left knowing that you loved him and were willing to end his pain and suffering. He will always be in your hearts and help you fill the void he left, when the time is right. I'm constantly in awe of the power that dogs have in our lives. Again condolences and I'm sure that all the other loving corgis at the Bridge have been showing Rascal their favorite hangouts. HUGS to you and your family.
I'm sorry sorry to hear about your Rascal. I know there is nothing I could ever say to make you feel better right now. Snowy finished his championship up last week and he should be back home at the end of the month just in time for the Omaha show which will be July 11 and 12. Very good chance it will be his last time in the ring. Kind of expensive hahahaha. Hope you can road trip one of the days there, I can let you know about a week before the times the corgi's go in, plus they have a lot of events going on there so it is fun.
I'll keep my ears open for a corgi looking for adoption for you.
Will be thinking of you
Snowy is currently doing some shows with a handler in Texas who also was showing his older brother last year and got him up to number 3 in the country. He has 3 points right now and the shows the next 2 weeks have major points up for grab. With a little luck he could get his first major win in the next several weeks. Miss him a ton. When he got the chance to go down it was tough because Buttercup was just about to go into heat. So no corgi puppies until this fall for us. Muffin will be ready again and we hope to have Snowy back. 2 litters would be awesome.
I won't be able to make it to Des Moines this weekend. trying to get ready for the shows in Lincoln Neb on the15 and 16. I did see it advertised in the paper and thought about it. Love the pics of your guy. So glad there are people like you out in the world who can help extend the life of such a great dog. We might be in the area come Jan. when they start up the dog show again in Des Moines.
Love your new profile pic. Rascal is looking quite handsome. Are you all ready for fall. The temps here are starting to get quite cool in the AM's, but the days are sunny and warm. Best part is the fog isn't much of an issue this time of year. That's why the locals here call this time of year, summer.
Timmy and I will probably be moving at the beginning of Nov. We're moving further out into the country, about 10 miles east of here, so I've been getting the house ready, will try to sell for a few weeks and then if it doesn't sell, I have a couple that wants to rent the house.
Best wishes to all and give Rascal a few scritches for me.
Congratulations on you puppal of the week on the sansanpals site. Rascal is such a handsome boy. Gives me hope for Timmy when he reaches maturity!!!
We're marching in the annual Rodeo Parade next Saturday. This will be our fourth one! Timmy loves it, unless it's super hot.
Love the pic of your new flower garden bed. I'm sure Rascal will like all the butterflies and birds it will bring. Hope all is going well for you this summer.
Hey Cathy,
You got any vacation plans for the summer? Timmy and I don't go all that far from the local area, but do head out to the beach quite often and play in the sand and surf. Timmy doesn't go swimming, the surf is a bit too rough in this part of the country for that. Hope you all had a safe and dry spring compared to the wetter parts of Iowa that were hit hard by the flooding.
Timmy was diagnosed with some moderate arthritis in his right rear hip and I've begun to give him some glucosamine and chrondroitin supplement, we'll see if it helps. Means he can't chase the ball for hours on end, but we'll adjust. Just hate to see the boy in pain.
Hope that all is well on the home front and that Rascal is enjoying the warmer weather and his longer walks.
Hey Cathy, I've been hiding over here for quite some time. Pretty active and I've made a couple of really good friends. Spring was a little slow here, but as you know from Sandra, summer arrived on Thursday and temperatures were in the high 90's here. That's enough to make the locals wilt!!! No garden for me here, I'll be helping my best friend with hers in Carlotta. That's the house I'll be moving into later this year. Depends if I sell my house or rent it out. Don't know yet.
I don't go anywhere much. I'm in love with the area and it's so beautiful, I can't think of anywhere else I'd like to go. If I do go on a vacation it's within a few hours drive and Timmy goes with me.
I'm glad that Rascal had his tooth fixed/pulled, I'll bet that he's feeling so much better now even though he had to stay at the vet kennel a couple of times. Hope things are going well for your family and that you had a great mother's day. I took my mom out to her favorite restaurant. Her birthday is next month and she'll be 82. Short term memory issues, but she's still getting around better than I do. Physically, she's in great shape. Can't complain too much.
Sorry about not being on Sansanpals much, but having to keep up with more than one of these sites is too much if I want to have any kind of other life, if you know what I mean. I'll try to stay in touch more through this site.
Hey Cathy! thanks for the message :) I launched the site back in October, it's amazing how much it's grown in just 6 months! I love all kinds of cars, but I like working on antiques, it's much simpler than the modern cars with all the computers :)
We are about 35 mins straight east of Council Bluffs.
We will have our new boy Snowy going into the comformation part of the dog shows. All ready have him signed up for a end of April show
