2 hours away. A bit of a drive, considering that the dog that fits my lifestyle best is a Schipperke, and there is a Schipperke rescue 45 minutes away from me.
Hello Sharnee! You must be close by us. I searched Petfinder the other day for local Corgis in need of adoption, and the pretty red and white girl you have on your page popped up! I see you're looking to get a Corgi, good choice ;)
My husband wanted to get a pembroke and we ended up with a cardigan!! My husband now adores him. Our cardigan has realy cool markings on the tips of his ears. His fur is so soft as well. Personality I believe is still the most important. We ended up with a cardigan because Ididnt realize that there were two different corgis at that time. My husband was pretty set about getting a pembroke until we went to the breeders and came home with a cardigan. My brother in law has a pembroke and she is so sweet. I would like to add a pembroke to our family one day though. Lance would love it! Early socializing is very important also. Good luck with your quest for a corgi.
Great sight! Cute photos! As for choosing a Corgi, you'll know when you find the right one. They tend to find you! By the way, the music from "The Contender" trailer is actually from the NBC show "The Contender". "Pirates of the Carribean " was a video I was thinking of making in the future, but Monty! isn't the sea-farin' type of Corgi!
I love your new photos Sharnee! :) I'm sorry about Molly and Millie! But I'm also happy that you found another corgi that you could get! :) Anyways... good luck with getting a corgi! :) I hope you accomplish getting one... he he he!!!
Corgis are the best dogs EVER. I grew up with Boston Terriers (particularly one named Tuesday) and thought for the longest time I wanted one. My other half has never had a dog before and, through exposure to a friend's puppy, wanted to get a Pug. I have always had a thing for medium to large dogs on top of it all, so we would bounce back and forth regarding what breed we were interested in...
Then it clicked last spring. Neither of us had ever had any exposure to Pems, but after we met one on the street we were hooked. A few months and what felt like a thousand phone calls later we were getting discouraged as there were no Corgis in practically all of New England up for adoption! Luckily, I found a really good, very responsible and highly reccomended breeder who just happend to be local and before we knew it, we got to visit the puppies!
Pogo is the best dog we could have ever asked for. I have a feeling that we won't be changing breeds...well...ever.
Terrible news! Molly is gone from Petfinder! I guess she passed away, was adopted, or was just taken down from adoption. Millie was then put on pending adoption. I guess someone was hoping for Molly, but had a backup of Millie or decided to adopt both of them. They are my two favorite corgis... But there is hope! I have just found a young corgi named Iris. She's a little farther away than Millie or Molly, and she is a tri color (I prefer sable and white), but she is cute! I'll put her photo on this site. Any opinions?
I hope you find the perfect pet. I got Aurora from a pet store, but she came from a breeder in Kansas. I adore her. Molly looks like a real cutie. Puppies are great, but sometimes adult dogs are better cuz you don't have to train them, generally. Good luck.
I might actually get another corgi instead. Here are my options:
1. There is a corgi in Lima, OH that is one hour closer to my hometown than Molly. Her name is Millie
2. A corgi breeder is 13 minutes away from my home. I still would like to rescue a corgi, but a breeder can certify purebreds and is much closer, plus I think I'll be obsessing for at least 5 more years and by then Molly and Millie will be old. The breeder hopefully won't have stopped by then. I also will get to name my corgi.
Any suggestions I would like to hear. Just post them on my page. Thank You!!
I'll be really happy for you if you do get Molly! :) I hope you do! Mabye I'll take a plane ride to where you live (if you tell me where you live, in secret) and visit you and Molly! :o I'm just joking!!! Well good luck with geting Molly! =D
