Heyo!
I saw your comment and I'm sorry for being ... months ... late, I haven't checked my profile for a long while.
How was your trip to the scenic Northwest?
So glad his procedure went without a hitch (minus the exorbitant fees...)! We'll be in Bethesda for the Meetup.com small dog group on Sunday. You should come! Dexter would love to have another corgi around... those little shih tzus annoy him... lol
Love all the pics. Thanks for posting. And I can't remember if I sent a message or not, but i'm collecting data for my master's thesis, if you get a chance, check out the forum: http://mycorgi.com/forum/topics/dog-ownership-and-health, I need a few more dog owners to take it, and I'd greatly appreciate if you guys have a chance to take it. I need non-dog owners as well, so feel free to pass along. Thanks!
I can't believe how big Darwin is getting!! He looks like a more sophisticated, regal, and refined Dexter. We're up for a play-date whenever you want. You just pick a place and a time and we'll be there!
Hey Ryan! Since the MD corgi group's leader has let the group fend for itself, we've created a new group so that Corgis in the DC/ MD area can meet up and stay in touch!
That's great! When are you coming through? What kinds of things do you like to do? Just need a bit of info so I'd be able to give you ideas of things to do in Portland...lol. It would be awesome to meet up! Are you flying or driving?
In reply to your potty training comment on elementary corgis:
We live in the third level of our apartment building without an elevator. First we found going up the stairs was easier than going down the stairs. So at first we carried him down, and when we went back up we'd stand about 2 stairs above him and give him a LOT of encouragement as well as a little treat on the third step. Once he got there we praised him like he had done the greatest thing in the world. Then we'd pick him up and bring him upstairs... we did this until he could get up one flight. Then we did it a flight at a time. We did the same thing to get him downstairs. We'd put a treat on the third step down and sit and wait for him to make his decision. We'd use the lowest flight (they can see through the steps and that's what scared him, or so we read).
Potty training, after awhile got terrible to go up and down all the flights of stairs, and my fiance's and my schedule is the same so we weren't home when he had to go. We have an x-pen and we opened it up to the patio, so he had his x-pen inside and the patio on the outside. The patio is only about 8x9. When we came home, we picked up all the poo and washed it with bleach. Once he was old enough to hold it until we got home, we restarted going outside. Now we take him out three times a day. Once right when he gets up, once before we leave and once when we get home. We also don't give him water or food after 7pm, that helps when we're too tired later on to go outside.
What a little cutie-pants Darwin is! I love the shot of him sleeping in his crate on his back. And that little nose of his is adearable. Your pictures are great. Thanks for sharing them!!
Hey Ryan! Just thought I'd drop a note to a fellow MD corgi owner (I live in Silver Spring). Darwin is adorable (and was actually what I wanted to name my own corgi before the name Dexter was agreed upon :-) ).
Hey, I've lived in Gaithersburg for about about 14 years now it seems. I've lived in Rockville for 3. How about you? Darwin (named after the famous naturalist, I presume?) looks cute, do you come to the Kings Farm dog park? There are some other corgis in the area and I'd love to have a big play-date!
Sounds great. Bethesda has Strut Your Mutt, on a Saturday in May, no official date yet, but I'll let you know. I hope Caden and Darwin will meet before then. :-)
That's so funny. Did you find the name Caden on the welsh name websites? Darwin is an equally awesome choice. He is soooo cute! The only dog park we've been to in MD is the one off of 270 and exit 8, the King's Farm Dog Park. It's nice,.. we've met up with a few fellow 'mycorgi' corgis. Love to schedule something, especially once it gets warmer... but it's suppose to rain this weekend :-( ~Cindy
