After the last video, he became braver and much more doorstop savvy. He went straight to biting. So I curbed that behavior quickly, as I didn't want him to break off the rubber part and accidently choke on it. For awhile though, he would test me and brush up against them to make the noise. Then he would turn around as if it started a fight.
Hey! Since the MD corgi group's leader has let the group fend for itself, we've created a new group so that Corgis in the DC/ MD area can meet up and stay in touch! Hopefully, this will help the effort to get all of us together!
Thanks! Griff's coat is actually really difficult to keep nice - I completely trim his "pantaloons" (fur on the back of front legs) and "butt fuzz" until it's super short. That fur is really downy, so it picks up leaves and burs and sticks and whatever else he walks over outside. I also keep his belly fur trimmed up (I do all of this with electric clippers) so that it doesn't collect a ton of mud and snow.
Otherwise it's just a lot of brushing and Furminator sessions! I also give my pets Brite Coat XS, an Omega-3 capsule for healthy skin and a shiny coat. It has made a significant difference in Griffy's coat! I used to take him to the groomer regularly, but I discovered I can do an OK job by myself at home, and saved some money in the process :)
Any luck on the meet-up? Dex ran into a dog his size yesterday and he had a blast. I can't wait until he can meet other corgis in the area! You could also try Meetup.com. Keep me posted!
HI!
We had our meet up at a local pet resort. They rent their doggie daycare rooms on sundays, so we really lucked out. I basically sent out a group email to IL/Chicago groups here to gauge interest. Once I felt I had enough people, I reserved the room, signed the contract with the Pet Resort and figured out how much to charge everyone to cover the deposit. It worked out well, with extra money going to corgi rescue. Everyone brought snacks and drinks and we all let the dogs play for 2 hours!
A lot of folks find parks or beaches to have meet ups...that works too. Do you have any dog parks near you??? You could even have it in someone's yard if that works!
I grew up in Gaithersburg. I have lived there for 18-20 years and now 2 in Germantown. We haven't taken Darwin to any dog parks just yet because he hasn't had the rest of his shots. I believe he will be receiving those in the next 2-3 weeks. Most of our neighbors go to a dog park off of Ridge Rd in Germantown. We will probably frequent there more often since it is closer, however, we do plan on mixing it up every now and again.
Ender is gorgeous. What a sweet face and beautiful coat. I love the pictures in the snow. You need to submit one of those baby pictures with the flowers in the next Corgi Calendar!!
Thanks Her mother was a sable fluff. Dad was a black headed tri. She got both. She is the sweetest dog we ever knew. She even tries to make friends at Petsmart with the cats. The puppies in her litter could only be sold as pets. Since we had 4 Shetland Sheepdogs in our married life, we did not care one bit. We feel blessed having her.---------------Dot
Hi, Akshay. Yes, Annie's a Cardi. We joked when we were "dog shopping" that I needed a dog with a tail because how else would we know she was happy! But now that we have her, that little clownish grin is all we need to see!
