For some reason they just like rolling around in interesting smells. The Youtube Video titled "Random Acts of Corgi" calls it the "Chinchilla Roll." I like that saying for it.
Although I could be wrong, I've never taken this behavior as a bad thing. Growing up, I had a cocker spaniel who did this and now my corgi, Ronan, does the same thing. If I put clothes on the floor that I've just worn or Ronan spies the bed unmade, he will literally dive into it then roll around while making snuffling noises. B/c he's always seemed so happy doing it, I took it as enjoyment (though I suppose I could be sentimentalizing his connection to me). I think another theory for this behavior is that they're compelled to mask their scent by rolling in someone or something else's so that they can go about undetected by other animals. Having had to stop Ronan from rolling in cat poop would seem to support this b/c I would like to think that I smell a little bit better than that ;)
So, Im not really sure why she does this! Every time she gets her little paws on a towel she rubs all over it. This one I had on my hair, and I hung it on the door handle. She pulled it off to roll on it! I wish you could hear the noise she makes better on the video, it is hilarious!!
