We we expecting quite a lot of crying coming from Tod's crate during the night, but he surprised us. After we turned off the lights and went upstairs, he stayed downstairs in his crate. He whimpered for 2 minutes and that was it. In the morning (around 7 am) he was awake and just sat there. I took him outside right away, but he wanted to be petted before he relieved himself. He seems to be a very affectionate guy.

Tod spent 2.5 hours connected to me via his leash this morning (thanks, Debbie). I think that's a very beneficial exercise. Just from that I've learned quite a bit about his body language. I know he's studying me (and the whole family) too. He's not a very vocal guy as we've observed. He barked 2 times at the neighbor's male dog, growled twice at my chihuahua - she came a bit too close to his bone. It's great that he doesn't growl at us at all when we take things like bones, food, toys, etc. from him.

Another thing I observed: Tod does not need to be told things twice. He was about to eat some plants, and I firmly told him 'annnnnt'. He stopped and looked at me. After I said 'come' once he RAN to me. Are all corgis this smart? Or should I say 'that eager to please'? He's probably easily 'hurt', so I need to keep that in mind when correcting...and use appropriate tone of voice. So far there was no correcting really, just pointing out of the boundaries.

Got some Oatmeal&Aloe shampoo for dogs. Tod did really well in the tub. I am sure his skin was sensitive due to scratching, but he stood still and let me wash him.

As far as feeding, Tod protested this morning and would not eat his Wellness Super5 mix food (His previous food was mainly chicken meal). He'd just push the food around and out of the bowl with his nose:) Pretty funny. But I've gone through this before, and like so many ppl on this board know - dogs will not die from starvation:) Well, after 20 minutes food went back into the bag, and it was just water till his evening feeding. Evening meal came, and sure enough he went right for it!
