Thanks for the thoughts. I guess I'll just call and ask when would be a good time to come and tour the areas the dogs'll be. If they say "No, we don't let people tour", I'll say, "Thank you, BYE."

No daycare that isn't hiding something will refuse a tour of their facility. The daycare I work at encourages customers to take a full tour, ask questions, etc. because we are proud of what we have to offer! (www.utahruffhouse.com)
Yes, it can excite the dogs quite a bit. Sometimes ther are dogs that get a little too excited over it, and because we get to know each dog individually, I might put a particular dog away for a minute while conducting a tour, just for everyone's safety.
I would not, under any circumstances, leave my pets in a facility I have not seen, Ever.

I had to tour Sky and Lyla's daycare after hours because it excited the dogs too much while they were there. The staff, however, were more than happy to stay late and show me around after the dogs had left. I would not trust them if they wouldn't work with me even once the dogs were gone, however.

My pups go to doggy day care and love it!! When I 1st called we had to set a appointment up for a sat. so only the boarders were there. because it is exciting to have a stranger walking around. They put Jordan with 3 of them and watched him. While we walked the facility.

We just got Dax to do beg. Except I don't like the word beg, so I just used the command "up," It took a while to teach. I think what finally did it was the new treats we bought that he LOVES -- Charlee Bears. Loves them! He'd do anything for them! Except roll over. He won't roll over for all the treats in the world. He knows how to speak, that one was fairly easy, he knows how to back up, that's a good one to teach. I'm in the process of teaching "bow" right now, except its hard for me to get him to stand up, and you can't really teach it from a sitting position. I would LOVE to teach him to crawl, but for the life of me, I have no idea how to even start...if anyone has any ideas.

As for the daycare, I would not leave my dog in the hands of a daycare staff that won't even give me a tour of the place first. I've also found that private daycares that people run like out of their houses are better, for boarding at least. We were going to leave Dax at this one woman's house, and she insisted that we bring him over first so he could look around (and so we could, of course) and meet some of the other dogs he'd probably be staying with. We ended up not going on the trip we had planned, so I didn't leave him there, but if ever I needed to board him or put him in any kind of daycare I would definitely go with her. You just have to be careful when you're dealing with the privately owned daycares like that, I'm sure there's some people who don't know how to run them or how to deal with that many dogs at one time (in case any fights break out, etc.) She also had other people who were there during the day to help her out, which I liked. I would absolutely want to have a look at where I'm leaving him before I decided. If they won't show you the place, tell them you'll just find another place that will!

well, things like stand and dance best to wait till they're done growin at about 1.5 yo. He might be better then!
Some other good tricks are:
speak, spin around, high five, play dead, back up (use a narrow space to train), circle around your legs, crawl (hard for Pooka)
