Hometown:
Dallas, Texas, USA
About Me:
First time dog owner. Saw a Corgi getting groomed in a Petsmart store, standing all regal, and I said, "That is the dog I want". Little did I know how rambunctious a puppy Corgi is. Life has certainly changed with the little one around.
About My Corgi(s):
My Corgi was born on 9/10/06. His name is Levon (after the Elton John song) and he is quite big for his breed. He weighs 37 pounds and doesn't look that heavy, but we are eating diet food and exercising alot. He still chews on everything I own and doesn't respect me much - so I bought Cesar Millan's "How to be a Pack Leader" - maybe it will help?

Hi Kay,
Seems like Levon is trying to be the master here. Puppyhood is a good time to train otherwise once it becomes an adult, it's personality is set and it will be more difficult to train. I've heard of Cesar Millan. Saw him on the Oprah Winfrey show.

Are you having any luck taming Levon?

It sounds like he's definitely trying to be the dominant one in your relationship. Once you establish yourself as alpha you'll be able to turn some of that energy into games you'll both enjoy. I haven't read the book you purchased, but I'm sure there will be some useful tips. The only tip I can give works with any relationship be it with animals, children, or other people. Consistency! Consistency! Consistency! A routine or a good set of expectations for your puppy will go a long way.

Puppies are cute little machines of destruction. However, once you establish yourself as the dominant one in the relationship I'm sure Levon will be a bit easier to manage.
