digging with nose?

My cardi puppy always starts by snuffling through the grass, then picks a spot and litterally DIGS a hole in the turf with his nose! This can happen before or after he "goes potty" or when we are just outside playing. Is this normal? Digging with his feet I could understand, but his NOSE?

Sidney does that too! We put a kiddie wading pool up on his balcony with some soil, hoping we could get some greenery to grow (it's too hot for it now), but when he gets a treat that he does not want now, he takes it out there and buries it. I see the dirty nose and I know what he's been up to!

This may have something to do with the other thread about how corgis are fussy about their feet and don't like them to be dirty.
