High-protein diet?

Hello all. I am new here, and come with a question.

I've recently begun feeding Orijen (42% protein) to my Pem, Remmy. So far he's doing well on it, but the more I seem to research reviews on it, the more controversy I see about high-protein diets. I see one person saying high-protein can be damaging to the kidneys, while some sources state it is a myth. I just don't know what to believe. =P

Any opinions/comments?

I think that a diet that high in protien could cause a myriad of issues down the road.
