I'm finally bringing my little guy home the 29th of April and I can't wait! Riley will be about 11 weeks at the time. I was wondering about how long a 20lb bag of food lasts a pup his age. One of the great perks of vet school is that I get Hill's food cheap, but the store is only open during the school year, so I'll have to stock up for the summer. Will 40lbs do it, or do I need closer to 60 to last me through August? Thanks guys!

Congrats Lindsay! Buy one small 5 lb bag of whatever the breeder is feeding, so you can transition the puppy over a few days and avoid an upset tummy. Even with a Hill's discount, I wouldn't buy more than a small bag to make sure it will agree with your puppy. I switched Charlie from the breeder's food to Solid Gold Puppy and it was too rich...gave him bad diarrhea even after the slow switchover...glad I didn't buy the economy size! Figure about 2 cups per day (2 cups = 1 pound per day).
