A good place in Albuquerque to leave our babies when we leave town?

Hi all,

I know there's a couple of Albuquerque corgi owners here and I was wondering if you might know of a good kennel/pet hotel to leave our kids at when we travel in a few weeks. My husband and I are both pretty nervous about it - we've had them with us every day since the day we got them (they're now 8 months old) and we're paranoid they won't be treated well.

Does anyone have a place they trust?

Thanks a bunch!

If you do not find a pet hotel, you can always look up Petsmart's service. Click here.

What a cute pair of Corgi Pups! :)

About a year ago I went through the same ordeal of finding someone you trust enough to care for your babies!

My recommendations are as follows:

1. If you want something cheap, reliable, and cost effective I'd recommend Northview Animal Hospital. I think it's about $12/day per dog (not quite sure exactly). This is the no-frills treatment for your dogs. They are in their own chain-linked fenced area within the vet facility with concrete floors and are let out periodically to potty. The vets/techs will come and play with them as they wish (there is no organized playtime or anything like that) however since your babies are Corgis, they will get a little extra attention here because the employees LOVE Corgi's and gave my little Quila a lot of TLC during her stay. It's B.Y.O.F. (bring your own food), toys, bedding. The great part of staying here is that there's on-hand Vets and techs so they can take care of your babies if anything should go wrong.

2. If you want to spend some coin and give your babies a great time when you're away I recommend Camp Bow Wow. Since you have a pair it'll be around $69/night for the both of the kiddo's (unless you upgrade to a Lux Suite it's $83). I would definitely checkout CBW's web site for more details. Your pups will have their own "cabin" (fenced area) to stay in during the nights and during their daytime naps. The great part of staying here is that your babies will be able to run free among other dogs similar in size and temperament within a "play area" that's both inside and out when they are not in their cabin (which is most of the day!). This way they can get some exercise and social time with other dogs and "Camp Councilors" who will talk/play/etc with your pups! The employees are all very friendly and are surely animal lovers so your babies will be in good hands. Quila has been here many, many times and loves it each and every time!!! It's also nice to stay here because if you have a "Smart Phone" such as an iPhone, you can get a $2 app that lets you actually watch your dogs live via your smart phone if you have 3G/wifi service. Pretty spiffy hu! You can also watch them via computer if you have internet access for free (no app req.) through the CBW site. I believe you have the option of having the Camp supply food which is covered in the total price or bring your own (which I recommend unless CBW feeds the same brand as you do). One extra thing about CBW, you will be required to bring your dogs in for a FREE evaluation visit in which they will stay there for a few hours and be observed by the staff to make sure they are not mean/aggressive/etc. You must do this PRIOR to the day of their stay... so plan ahead! There are other similar places to Camp Bow Wow (which is a franchise) that are locally owned such as Dog World, Canine Country Club Albuquerque, etc but I like CBW!

Woof!
Thanks so much for your advice! We interviewed a woman who's a vet tech at VCA - she cares for dogs in her home. We're going today to see another one and hopefully we can weigh things and figure out who we feel will do right by them. Man, this IS like leaving your baby with someone - so scary!

I don't think we'll relax until we get back home and see them again, safe and happy.
Btw, wish we could take 'em to Camp Bow Wow! Sounds totally awesome but a bit beyond our means right now.
HEHE...
Seriously, I know the feeling. I take frequent trips to Vegas for "pleasure" but most times it's actually spent in anticipation to come home to see the kiddo!

I'm sure no matter who you end up picking, they will do a tremendous job. People who show interest in pets enough to be a vet tech and such, you'd think they have the heart and integrity to care for someone's loved ones. VCA is certainly reputable. My parents used to take their pug there and were happy as can be! :)

Good luck in your decision! ^___^

Take care and hope to see more of your lovely Corgis!
