So Zoe has had a really rough week and a half. One day, she just stopped eating her food... It seemed like she was actually afraid of her bowl and would just run away from it. After an hour or more of trying to get her to eat, she'll eventually finish it a little at a time. That or we need to feed it to her by hand. This has been going on all last week and into this week. We tried a different spot, adding kong peanut butter or olive oil, and trying a different bowl... all to know avail. She just runs away from it. We bought a new bowl today and are going to try a bowl that isn't metallic. Weird enough, she'll drink water out of the bowl she won't eat out of it...
Also, she's starting to have stomach problems. She'll poop at such random times and sometimes it's extremely runny and she'll get diarrhea. That's happened maybe twice in a week and a half... It could be worse, but still
Then, last night, I look away from her for ten minutes and all of a sudden, her whole face is swollen, especially her right gum. I took her to vet emergency and fortunately there was nothing wrong with her. It appears she had an allergic reaction to a bug bite (most likely mosquito as there are so many outside our house that I think they mate there). She's still kind of swollen now but doesn't seem to be having any problems. Her face is apparently extremely itchy as she is rubbing her face against the floor most of the night. She is having problems getting comfortable because of it and will most likely lose some sleep. I hope this goes away quickly. She may need another vet visit soon (scheduled for one on Monday for her last shots).
Finally... yes there is more, she won't go into grass willingly anymore. If you pick her up and set her down, she'll bolt to get out of the grass. I pretty much have to drag her into it. She'll sometimes go to the bathroom in there, but mostly just tries to get away from it. I took her for a walk tonight and she would have rather walked in the middle of the road than near the grass... I'm thinking it has to do with the bug bite she probably got out there...
Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions to help her out with any of these, my wife and I are all ears as it's heart-wrenching to watch her whine and try to rub her face.
thanks in advance,
Dan and Jen
