I know you guys remember the corgi that went missing named Andy. I have been following it closely since. The owner has hired a pet detective (search) team from Nebraska to come out twice to Connecticut to help find Andy. They are SO close...but now this crisis has come up. Karin needs INFO on what could be wrong with her search dog, Cade. PLEASE, if you have any information that may help them narrow down what is wrong with him, go to "Bring Andy Home" on facebook, and post under her information in the "recent posts" section. Let's come through for these guys. My heart is aching for both of them.
"To all... I am sorry we have not posted but this has been a devastating couple of days for me. On Sunday night, I noticed Cade was acting strange... very strange. Not sick but he was having episodes where it was clear he did not recognize me or the other dogs. He growled and was aggressive... he did not know who we were. On Monday we rushed him to Tufts University Veterinary Hospital as the episodes increased. He was evaluated and the prognosis was not good... really devastating. I thought this was the beginning of Lyme Disease because we had found ticks on him just three days earlier while tracking another dog in Northern Mass... the vets felt otherwise... they were sure he had an inoperable brain tumor or rabies and even discussed putting him down. After his MRI, they could not find a brain tumor or brain infection. We are left with a diagnosis of seizures. It is certainly not like any seizures I have ever seen. Cade is under observation at the vet hospital, behaving badly but heavily sedated. I will find out tonight what they feel his prognosis is for healing.
I have been mostly in a daze and Jordina has been the rock helping me put one foot in front of the other. The fear for my partner and friend has been at times... incapacitating... especially when the vet was talking about putting him down. I tried to get the vet team to understand just who Cade was and how many people he has helped... the whole thing is a nightmare. So this is why I dropped off the planet... I have been living by the phone, hanging by a thread waiting for the calls...
I would appreciate any info on the symptoms of Lyme Disease. His Lyme titer is negative but I have been told it is likely that the changes would not show for 14 days or so. Cade had four ticks on him last Thursday, one welted up and he does have a positive Eurlichia titer but they feel this is probably old and not active. Links or articles would be greatly appreciated... I will update you when I know more... please pray and hold a positive thought for Cade... he deserves to live to a ripe old age... Thanks... Karin"
