Becca and I participated in a barn hunt clinic today. It was fabulous! The dogs were introduced to a rat in the tube, then the maze with empty tubes in the same rack used in the instinct test. Everything was explained as we went by the judge running the clinic. We each got two runs on an instinct run set up. The dogs had to go through a hay bale tunnel, go up and onto at least one bale and then target the proper tube. Becca found the right tube both times. Her agility training was a bonus with the tunnel and hay bale work.

After lunch a we had the chance to run two different novice courses. This time the hay was in more stacks and the rat was hidden. The dogs had two minutes to go through the tunnel, onto at least one bale, and find the rat. Becca got 1:38 the first run and :48 the second. The rats and hay were arranged differently each time.

My description isn't doing it justice. It was a great time and a sport that corgis would excel at.

that sounds awesome!! did you get any photos of Becca in action??

No photos, but I have video on my phone. I need to upload it to my laptop.

Mine would love that!  Wish we had someone around here who ran an event.

Beth, there are trials listed for PA, I'm not sure how close they would be. Clinics aren't listed on the Barn Hunt website. I got lucky when I saw this one advertised while checking for fun runs. Come to find out my vet was on the planning committee. I'm hoping the same club will hold another clinic.
