Can anyone help me find my boyfriend and I a CORGI?! =)

Not exactly sure how this website works but google connected me to it so I thought I'd see what I could get out of it! My boyfriend is in the Air Force and I am a college student! We have been looking hard to ad a Corgi to our home. =) We love Corgis so much and really want one to take out on walks and do fun activities with! If anyone knows how I can get a connection to find a Corgi please let me know! Thanks!

Welcome Caitlin, talk to members who live in Ft Collins and see if they can offer you a referral. you may also want to read the faq as well. You can also contact the local rescue, good luck!
I would recommend going to the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America website (http://www.cardigancorgis.com/) if you are looking for a cardigan or the Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club of America website (http://www.pembrokecorgi.org/) if you are looking for a pembroke. Both sites have a breeder tab that will give your references to approved breeders in your area and links to their websites.
Caitlin - you should be aware that most good breeders are very nervous about placing dogs with families that are active military. You should expect to have to answer some tough questions about what will happen to the dog during deployments or if your boyfriend needs to move suddenly. If you are NOT asked those questions, I'd look askance at that breeder.

Chris is correct that you should begin with the national or local clubs.
I'd suggest: Be patient. Be thorough. Don't be impulsive (one of the sorriest-looking alleged corgis I've ever seen was, "...she was kind of an impulse buy...we got her from a pet store in...").
DON'T get a dog from a pet store.
If the breeder doesn't make you jump through a lot of hoops to get one of their animals, maybe think about getting one from somebody else.
Do your homework. May take awhile, but the right dog will find you.
You didn't specifically say you wanted a puppy, so I'd suggest rescue! We found our corgi on Petfinder.com and he's the best, most well-mannered dog I've ever known. Just keep checking the site for corgis near your area, and if you find one, jump on it because they can get adopted fast!
Thanks everybody for their responses- much appreciated....!!!! =)
Jane Lamb said… I got my two corgi's from Haystack Arces in Longmont. They have a webpage and a face book page. Lovely place- great people and fantastic dogs!
Are you looking for a Pembroke or a Cardigan? Puppy or adult? Sex preference?
I am looking for Pembroke... Puppy or adult and male or female.. not too picky!
