Enjoys long walks on the beach and raw chicken backs

This is a repost from my blog; the surgery I am talking about was to fix an icky-looking but harmless vaginal prolapse. Her caboose needed to be shaved but the surgery was flawless and as soon as the hair grows in she will look completely normal. She is spayed. I've had some interest in talking about her but I am looking for the PERFECT home and am not in a hurry.…

Is your breeder's contract worth the paper it's printed on?

Posted on June 23, 2010 at 3:10am 5 Comments

Here are some MAJOR red flags when you look at a breeder contract or "health guarantee."

1) The health warranty (which is what it should be called; nobody can "guarantee" health) runs out before the disease would show up. This is SUPER COMMON. People will offer a one-year warranty when OFA won't even certify hips before two years old. Other diseases (most heart problems, for example) won't show symptoms until the dog is fully mature. By making the deadline while the dog is…

Followup to Cardi needs a home (merle boy "for trade")

Posted on February 4, 2010 at 4:42am 13 Comments

You guys ROCK! Thanks to the efforts here and the hard work of the Cardi people, we know his pedigree, his breeder knows about it, and she's contacting her attorney in the morning. He WAS sold on a neuter contract and without papers (which is why they were looking to use him to make mixed-breed dogs) so there is hope that she can either get him back or rehome him appropriately.

I am always impressed with the care and commitment of dog people :). Yay for you all!

Joanna, I am an avid follower of your Ruffly Speaking blog and photography. You're pretty much the reason of why I got into Cardigans in the first place, and renewed my love for animal photography! Daisy Poppy's litter looks so beautiful at five weeks; I can't wait to see more pictures as they grow. :)

Have you heard anything related to the "Two Cardigans available" blog that was posted Sat/Sun? I had attempted to email late Sat. night the blog post to the Cardi National Rescue contact but the e mails bounced back undeliverable. ^,,^ Got the emails addresses off CWCNRT site-curticardi@bak.rr.coms, curti@grimmway.com.

Hi Joanna,

I just dropped by to say hi and see how you were. I haven't been on lately and was beginning to feel like a stranger to the site. :)

Did you get one of your cardi's from Rita at Cornerstone? She spoke of a Joanna McKim getting a MACH recently on a pup she placed.
