I'm on a couple other forums around the 'net and I don't know what it is in the air right now, but a LOT of people (mostly in the U.S.) are wanting to breed their bitch for X or Y reason. So, since I plan on C+P-ing this everywhere I encounter such an idea, I want to post it here, too, just to cover as much ground as I can.
So you want to breed your female. You know what to expect if everything goes right.…

Ace is a wonderful dog, but he has always had a huge problem of guarding his raw dinner from other animals. At one point it had vanished, and he was able to share a meaty bone with the cats. He's never guarded from humans, and I am very thankful for that. I've hand-fed him from the start, and I think it has paid off - I can pick the food right out of his mouth and he won't say a thing.
But now, his guarding against other animals is back full force, and what's worse is that his…

This morning, Lady graciously celebrated the two week mark of living with us by taking a massive, pungent dump just to the side of the bed as I slept. All the blame goes to my husband, who thought it would be a good idea to not inform me that she had yet to poop in the A.M., and then let her roam freely in the bedroom while he went off to work. I won't soon forget the smell (compounded by the fact that I had thrown up my innards the night before thanks to eating…

Considering how well you have trained Ace, I imagine that Lady will be the star of anything you give her an opportunity to do. Ace will love it too. That bit of sharing the big antler was a marvelous example.
Ludi, I have seen your comments that Ace never seemed very affectionate towards and in another place I noticed that you said that he had spent his first 4 months in the presence of other dogs. I feel that he was dog-bonded rather than people-bonded. They need people contact as soon and as often as possible. I adopted a cardi when she was 16 mo. old and she had been sold with her litter mate sister and I understand that that is another bad thing as they will always bond primarily with a little mate. My girl had been abused when I got her (apparently by a woman) so we struggled for years but she was just scared to death of me when I got her. When she was 3, I got a baby pem and she was thrilled and adopted the pem as her baby. It appears that Ace loves his baby sister and you have probably made him very happy. I suspect he will always be a little distant. I wish you had had my baby Randy to train. He is so smart (and spoiled rotten) and I am too old to have trained him properly.

Congrats on the little Lady!(: I am so glad everything worked out on the first night home (so far) Keep us posted on her!
I hope our Corgi responds to training and tricks as beautifully as your Ace! :)
I've watched your videos of Ace and his tricks and it is so amazing!! The tricks he can do are awesome I can't believe you were able to teach him all that. I have a 3 month old pembroke named Rocky, and i'm wondering how did you start teaching him? what were his first tricks?
well it's okay for him to be a little shrimpy though! Macy was the runt of her litter so she is pretty little compared to her brothers and sisters that I saw pictures of. At 6 months they are about the size that she is now.
yea, she is a good girl. She is a very clumsy puppy at the moment. Being only a year and about 9 months she still has a lot of puppy in her but we love her to bits. How old is Ace now? He still looks like a little puppy, I love the picture you have on here. That hat looks adorable on him.
My corgis all do well with the chicks but Wynn is the baby chick dog as he is so very gentle. He starts by checking them everyday with me and now at 6 weeks of age he is getting them used to dogs being around and outside for bits of time. The other dogs will leave them alone shen they get bigger but I don't trust them yet. I have had a couple mishaps though one with a rescue corgi and when our Aussie caught one in his mouth and stood there not knowing what to do...but over the coarse of 8 years 1 injured and 1 fatality isn't too bad. The chicks do run and crab at the corgis occasionally:)
