So I've been reading a little bit about clicker training. It seems like it's really effective. I was wondering if anyone has tried and had success or if it's even necessary?

Thanks :]

As a longtime (retired) breeder and trainer, I would strongly recommend waiting to get your pup until it's at least 7 weeks old. My pups never left before 10 weeks of age. There are behavior problem that develop when pups are separated too soon from mother and littermates. This is more important than whether you use a clicker or not.  As for training, my personal preference is with using my voice, which is always with me.  The important thing is not so much what you choose to use, but whether you are clear, consistent, reasonable in your expectations and positive in your interaction with the dog. Only encourage those behaviors that you want to see more of and relax and enjoy your puppy.  The magic will happen between you :-)  Good luck.
