Corgi and Water

Hmm, are corgi's water dogs? I've heard mixed things from the people that I know. Some will be like a cat and scratch the living crap out of you and the other just tolerate it.

I put Freya in the tub with me on a whim. I figured at the very least I should get her used to the water. I held her so she wouldn't freak out and she just immediately started to doggy paddle. Sadly, she did far better than our Weim, which is supposed to be a water dog(?) too. I sat her in my lap for a second and she was fine, she wasn't freaking out at all.

I was impressed. Am I lucky or is this normal?

Caesar just took his first swim this weekend. I pretty much put him there and took a close look. He swims really well for a couple of minutes and then he was struggling a bit so I took him out. At the more shallow side he was playing happily once I jumped in. I heard of Corgi's that like water and corgis that can't stand it... mine is in between

The first couple of times we gave Mac a bath he was less than pleased with the whole idea. Then it seemed one day he just sort of learned to love it and now will hope into the bath/shower after someone has showered and will play in the left over water. Its really cute. I'm hoping that this summer I can teach him how to properly swim at the local pond.

KC loves water, hates baths lol. Seems that colder yuckier water is much more fun.
Here is some pics of her on our camping trip during Easter playing in the run off from the ponds. I swear everytime we went outside she had to go find some water to play in. And last fall we went camping and she actually dived into the lake after my husband and son because they were out playing in the water.

My first Corgi HATED water and would not go near it without being convinced, but my current one cannot get enough water in her life. When we take walks in the local parks, she walks directly into the lakes without a moment's hesitation.

My experience has obviously been that it varies from dog to dog.
