My dog, Kramer, recently died. I am now researching breeders hoping to find a corgi puppy this spring or summer. I have emailed several breeders off the PWCC site and Mayflower sites. Only one has contacted me, Julia Clough of Sippiwisset. We had a wonderful phone conversation and I will visit her in April. If possible I want to get my pup from her, but would also like to research other possibilities. Does anyone have any suggestions? I want a pup from a reputable breeder, pet quality, but obedience prospect.

Blacksheep Cardigans just had a big litter.  We got our puppy from her and he came with all the health testing but also beautifully socialized.  She has been wonderful about answering all my questions after we got him home too.

Edited to add: I did not notice whether you were looking for Pembrokes or Cardigans but she breeds Cardigans.

Have to say, I read the Blacksheep Cardigan website, and I'm very, very impressed.  They offer free boarding, and hospice care for dogs from their litters?  Now, *that's* a breeder that cares about the welfare of their dogs!

If we end up purchasing a puppy, Blacksheep is a strong contender.

That said, we'll be looking at a GSD rescue, probably this weekend.  He's a 2 yr old cutie named Rayne from his original home - grew up with small children, and is rumored to be good with cats.  If it turns out he is...  We may have our baby.   We'll have to see.  We could always think of him as a Corgi with realllly long legs!  (He'll shed just as much!) :P

Marcie-

I have a Sippiwisset of Julia's and she is wonderful! Great temperment, beautiful, and an overall wonderful dog. We have had her for almost two years - she was born 7/4/10 and we brought her home in November. We are looking for a second pup and were going to contact Julia in May about any upcoming litters. We would like a pup sooner but I believe Julia is not planning anything until May.

We also contacted Blacksheep this week but have not heard back from them yet. Another breeder i would recommend in Diane Ellis in Dover. She just had a very small litter whom are all spoken for (3 pups born and w were 4th on the list) but i think she is planning another litter soon.

Good luck if you haven't already found a new pup!

There's a breeder in Duxbury, but don't know her name.  She is held in high regard from what I was told.
