Along northern Washington's Pacific Crest Trail in September, one meets people who have started in Mexico in April and are about to complete their trek to Canada.
Near Hopkins Pass -- only hours from his goal -- I met a fellow from North Carolina who had a corgi back home, a marvelously fun dog named Indy because they found him one July 4th in a dumpster.
Find the corgi in this picture:
The fluffy "flowers" are the mature fruits of a mountain anemone, called "Mouse On a Stick" at this point. There were acres and acres of them:

Did they give more details? eg. walking along and heard whimpering from a dumpster...
Here's a Corgi Mountain Rescue story :P
Meet Bella - a truly unique rescue story! Bella was found while hiking deep into the woods. Hearing a yelp, she was found hiding under a rock on a craggy cliff. We have no idea how she got out here b/c the terrain is so harsh. Perhaps a hawk dropped her or a coyote took her out here. She is now 6 months old, up to date on all shots and was recently spayed and so she is ready to go to her forever home. She has a wonderful personality, gets along with people and dogs (though she is scared of larger dogs) and still has some growing to do. She is currently near 14 lbs and loves being a puppy. According to the vet, she is mostly corgi. She is very intelligent and loves to play with bouncing tennis balls inside our house. If you think Bella would be a great fit for you, fill out an adoption application today!
Wow, what a great story, and what a cool-looking dog!
There is a lot more to my story, too -- 2 days after meeting the NC PCTer and learning about Indy, Al was incapacitated by an apparent knee injury deep in the Pasayten Wilderness. I aborted our trip and evacuated him 17.5 miles in an improvised sling made out of the plastic tablecloth I use as a ground-sheet. A real mountain rescue. I'll post details sometime, but a lot is going on right now.
Take good care of Bella and find her a good home if you can't take her yourself; she looks like a stunning dog.
Oh no, poor Al..
Actually, Bella isn't with me.. I saw her ad on PetFinder and this discussion reminded me of her story :P
Hope everything panned/pans out okay with Al!!
