Hello all, Token may need to have emergency disc surgery. If so, one option is to crate her for about 4 weeks after the surgery. She was not a big fan of crates in the paste, so she hasn't been crated for about 3 years. Someone suggested to us that perhaps the crate was too big for her. Any thoughts on type of crate or size? She's a Cardigan. About 27 pounds. Also, any helpful info about recuperation welcomed. Thanks,
Stephanie

You can reduce the size of a hard crate by making a movable plywood partition. That's what we did with Al's when he was a puppy, moving the partition back as he grew.
I made a cardboard template, but out a piece of 3/4" plywood with a sabre saw, and screwed it to a transverse board that passed through the barred windows. I had to unscrew this to move the partition.
