Pippa and Dante have done beautifully just being closed in my bedroom when we have to leave them at home. Until the past few weeks, that is. Suddenly, when we come home, our mattress has been peed on, bedsheets are shredded, and most recently, the mattress itself has been shredded!! We've tried excercising them before leaving, leaving several filled kongs and other toys, and even leaving the tv on! It doesn't matter if they are in there 15 minutes, or 4 hours. I haven't been able to figure out if it is just one of them, or both, either. It could be Pippa's anxiety getting bad again, or Dante marking or getting bored, I just don't know.
I'm out of ideas, and pretty soon, I'll be out of a mattress, so I'm thinking about getting them crates. The guy Dante came from said that he handled crating ok. Ok, as in whines for twenty minutes, but finally settles down after you yell at him to be quiet. Pippa has never been in a crate once in her life, unless you count playing in the travel crate (left over from a previous pup) on our back porch. I don't even really know what size to get, it has been so long since I've had a crated dog.
I needed to get them crates, anyway, for our hurricane evacuation kit (living on the Gulf Coast has its drawbacks :/), so I suppose I'd have to get them semi-comfortable in a crate anyway.
So, any suggestions, tips, anything?

OH that could have started the feeling they are dealing with.
Does anyone have any suggestions for specific crates or plastic pet carriers? I want to get a good sturdy one that will last. Or any tips for getting them adjusted to being crated?
