Didn't your mother tell you not to play with your food?

Eowyn isn't a crazy dog food eater....but she does play with her food ALOT! She'll grab a biscuit then run across the kitchen into the living room and throw it up into the air and play with one biscuit for about 2-5 minutes and then maybe she'll eat it or she'll stash it somewhere then lay down and stare at it or look at our other dog, daring him to take it. And of course he does (He's a HUGE eater and always hungry, lol! ), she'll run towards him and growl, maybe even nip him on the nose, but she still won't eat it. What is she doing? It is kind of annoying, because I mean who likes dog biscuits covered in wet meat on the living room carpet? I'm always picking up the biscuit and taking it back to her bowl, but she does it again and if I tell her no while she's carrying the biscuit over to the living room, she drops it and just sits there like she's in trouble, which she's not, I just don't want her doing that, lol!

But, she's already ruined our $50.00 rug by chewing an ink pen and staining the beige color all black and I don't really want it to have dog meat mixed in with it, yuck! Does anyone know why she is doing this? Thanks! :-)

Sounds like the teasing the big dog with the food, is a dominance thing. Also, it makes me feel like that is promoting food agression. In my opinion, I would stop that type of play.

As far as tossing it in the air, playing.
Yeah, that what I was kind of thinking. It's her "little way" of showing dominance over our other dog. She never does it to us though, if I approach her when she drags the biscuit on the carpet, she backs away and allows me to take the biscuit or drops it if I approach her while she's running towards the carpet, but if our other dog comes by, she growls and snaps at him. It's not like a full blown attack, just a little growl and nip, but still a nip nonetheless.

I'll stop her every time when she starts to even hint at playing with her biscuits and won't allow her to go to level 2 of it. Thanks! :-)
