Dog Won't Go in New Doggie Bed
We just bought Camber a new bed at Costco and she won't go in. We've tried placing her in the bed and petting her, but she seems nervous and just takes off once we are done. I think now she determined not to use it. She'll lay down right next to it.
She is not big into dog treats, so using treats for anything is difficult with her.
Any suggestions?

Really. That's interesting. I specifically bought it at Costco as I can return easy at any time. I'll give it a couple of weeks and see. She seemed happy enough with the simple pad.

Well I'm not sure since I don't know what bed you got. ;) But at my costco all the beds have cedar in them. I remember I wanted to get one because it was super cheap and seemed comfy enough, but my husband wouldn't get it because he hates the smell of cedar.
Maybe the cedar makes it lumpy and that's why the pad is working? Who knows.

***** Update *****
Two nights ago, I put the additional pillow that came with the bed where Camber's old pad is next to our bed. I work up and she was sitting on it. It was kind of funny as this pillow is quite thick and she must not have been so comfy. Last night, I put her old pad in the new bed I found her sleeping in it this morning! I'll rock it this way for a couple of days and then remove the old pad. I put her bed in the living room while we are away and hope to see her in it when I get home from work. This morning before we left, she sat down next to the bed, but she may've been too warm for the bed.
So far so good, without having to give her treats or coaxing!

when we buy a new bed for Lily we put one of my daughters blankets over it. She will smell Sammy on there and snuggle on it.

We have the Costco bed, and our three dogs love it. Usually Old Man Bruce claims it. Sidney will sometimes sneak into it. I think the key is if another dog is using it, then your dog will automatically want to also!

Camber is loving that bed! Only during night though. Can't get her on it during the day.

Glad she likes her ned now. We got Le-Le a new bed for Christmas and she refused to go in it. No treats or toys could get her to stay in it so we returned it. She has a foam bed that has walls on the side that she loves. We put American cheese in her kong and she likes that a lot. Just got her a new toy that is a purple squirrel and you put treats in it and the treats fall out if they push, drop it and so on.

We washed her bed, so she is sleeping on the seperate cushion that we do not use along with the bed. Elys thinks it props Camber up too high and she does not get to use the side walls. I do not think it makes a difference as Camber was content sleeping on the floor. The bed cover should be all set for tonight. Camber does sleep in our bed 2-3 days a week, sometimes she'll hop off the bed and back to hers.
Once, she actually got off our bed, got water and hopped back up onto our bed! She likes to play lazy giving you the eyes like she can't make the jump; yet I know she can do it quite easily.

I needed a new bed to replace a worn, torn, icky smelly one. Petco charges SO much! I went to Costco and the ones they have there are gorgeous! So many pretty patterns it was hard to choose. They have two styles, a round one (probably 4 feet diameter) with one side in sheepskin for $18.99, and a rectangular orthopedic for $24.99. What a deal! I bought the round one because I know Bruce (the senior mix) likes bed made of sheepskin. He loves it :-)

Lance attacks the beds made from sheepskin, since he was a puppy! lol Have to stay away from sheepskin with him. Other beds he is fine with.

They had a couple designs that were non-sheepskin too!
Tonight I was looking for Sidney and I found him, curled up in that big bed! He looked so tiny.

Aww, how cute Sidney! We have an oversized dog blanket from there, we love it. : )
