Hi everyone, Katch has begun to worry me. He's constantly "flea-biting" and licking at the area where his rear leg meets his side. Sorry I'm not sure of the name of this part of his body. Sometimes when he's walking he tries to use his hind leg to scratch in the same place as well. I got him to lay down and I carefully moved his hair aside and there's a bunch of little red spots, some as small as pin pricks and others no bigger than the head of a pin. They look a lot like little scabs but it's really hard for me to tell exactly what they are. My poor puppy scratches so hard he shakes the whole bed mattress when I'm trying to watch tv or read and can spend 30 minutes or more doing it.

Anyone have any idea what this could be? I did change his food recently, same brand but a different flavor because he seemed to be becoming bored the the other flavor but everything I've been able to find suggests that if there was a problem with that he would be itching at his feet.

It is a hot spot, in the mean time, keep the area clean, cool and airy, you can purchase some anti itch spray for some relieve. stop the new food. Time to give him a good brushing and keep the coat not clump together.
