Madison had her tooth pulled Thursday and has been doing fine. She's on pain meds and is eating and drinking fine and, frankly, back to her "normal" self.

But her face under her eye is swelling. She chewed on a rawhide today so I don't know if it was too early for that or if the area is infected after the extraction. Natually, this stuff NEVER happens during the week or during the day Saturday - it waits until after vet hours.

What do you guys think? Am I panicking over nothing? I've tried to put ice on it. She ain't havin' it. Other than the swelling, you can't tell anything has happened to her. But it's definitely noticable. And I worry over everything with this dog.

mine had a little swelling the day after. the vet suggested i come in but it turned out to be nothing.

so i guess what im saying is it could be something or it could be nothing.

i'm chocked full of help today. :3

take her temp. Generally if there is an infection they will have a slightly elevated temperature. One of my co-workers dogs had a tooth extracted and a tiny piece of the tooth was left behind, this procedure was done by a specialist as well. She had significant swelling and a pretty bad infection that had to be treated with antibiotics. Eventually they had to go back in and remove the piece of the tooth because it didn't get better. I would call an emergency hospital and see what they say. They will usually give you some good advice over the phone or let you know what to do until your vet opens back up on Monday.
