I need to use a combo to cover all the above because we found a tick on Lulu (first tick Ive seen here in 15+ years.)

We had been using Revolution but now need to add something for ticks.

Vet suggested Revolution AND Advantix.

Any suggestions, I want the most effective, least harmful and of course least costly combo.

Advantix/Heartguard?

Revolution/Advantix

Comfortis + Heartguard

Trifexis

Decisions decisions, any suggestions and actual experienced advice would be helpful!

We use Frontline Plus/Sentinel (now that it's back at our vet's office, but used Heartgard before that). We still find ticks on Kaylee in the summer, but they are recently acquired (not engorged) and therefore probably haven't transmitted any disease or been on her long enough to be affected by Frontline.

I've heard Advantix is better for repelling as well as killing ticks. My vet switches between the two depending on the time of year and what she will be doing with the dog and the risk of exposure to ticks.

We use the generic Heartgard Plus (Inverhart Plus) for heartworms and K9 Advantix II for fleas and ticks. It's also supposed to repel mosquitos which is a benefit since the West Nile Virus is a problem here.

We use Frontline plus and Heartgard in Iowa. When we go to GA in the winter, I call the vet down there and find out what is working for fleas and ticks so I can get it and start it before we leave here. This past year we used Advantix and the only fleas I saw on either dog were dead and there was only one per dog in the 3 months we were there. We keep up the Heartgard the entire year now that we go to GA in the winter. We used to take the winter off, but no more. We do have mosquitos at times down there.

thanks everyone for your suggestions!!
