Just in case some people haven't heard of these "things", it is a batlike/man/animal that sucks the blood out of animals and sometimes eats organs of the animals.

I was just watching about this on the national geographic channel today. All the animals that were said to have fallen victim to this beast or whatever it is, has made holes (not gashes or gaping wounds) and precise incisions into the animal. I'm not sure what to make of it. They were thinking wild dogs but how can that be when there are not tears or rips in the skin but like someone or something cut with something clean and sharp. I don't know. I just thought it would be fun to see what everyone else thought. I'm open to whatever. It just all seems a little weird to me.

I had read in the mainstream media that several hairless, ugly, pointy-teethed dead critters turned in for analysis, and suspected of being the chupacabra of modern legend, turned out upon autopsy to be wild coyotes with extreme cases of mange that left them hairless. Apparently under all that fur, coyotes (especially sick ones) are kinda skinny and it makes them look a bit spiney.

I'm not sure about the blood-sucking reports. I think there was an X-files episode about cows being drained of blood. No joking! Seriously, often the X-files started out with things that really happened and built a story around it, and of course in this case they would have suspected aliens. If there really are animals turning up drained of blood, personally I would suspect some small cult or even a single deranged person with a scientific background.
I was watching that show and this woman from mexico was talking about how she saw one and it was so fast. I try to be a bit of a skeptic when it comes to things like this but I can't think of what it would be that no one has caught yet besides a person. The way the animals were cut open so precisely seems like it had to be something that was highly intelligent with something REALLY sharp. They did a study of a cow rotting in a field to see what the decomposing process came up with but the only thing with that was the people finding the animals didn't sit around and decompose for days. Their animals would be there at night and the next morning be drained and/or missing organs. I have no idea what it could be but I don't know if I would want to be the one looking for it. lol My boyfriend said "We should go looking for one." I was like "Ahhhh..... NO!" lol The only way I would do that was with three German Shepherds AT LEAST and some guns. He claimed he would go with shepherds and packing like Rambo. Typical guy. I really do want to know what it is though. Stuff like that just bugs me. I went to Scotland, No sign of Nessie. I was disappointed lol. (I really did go to Scotland and really did hope to see something but didn't get my hopes up. lol) I think I'm going to read some more about it just to see what the other claims are.
Ha ha, I saw that episode of X-files (my Mom and I used to be X-file junkies) and you're right they did base many of the stories on actual occurrences just as CSI does.

I watch the Nat Geo special when it aired about a year ago so I don't remember all the details now but I do remember the decomposition study they did and that the Mothman was thought to be a Chupacabra.

I've joked about searching for Chupacabras too. I figured since we're in Az where the first reported sightings were, we're in the prime hunting location. :)
Lol. I think it sounds fun and daring but if it is something like what they describe, I don't know that I want to be the one to find it. lol You are in prime hunting location lol Has anything ever happened near you?
I'm always up for an adventure. I'd love to go on a road trip and visit different haunted locations. I know odds are there is no Chupacabra, Big Foot or Nessie but it's more fun to allow for the possibility that there is. :)

I've experienced various unexplainable things but not many with "creatures". There was a time years ago when I was in my back yard with a couple other people and something flew by us but we couldn't see what it was. It seemed to be flying faster than anything any of us had seen before and it made a sound that sent chills up my spine. The sound of it moving through the air indicated something large and very fast. We can guess that maybe it was this or that but the truth is nothing really fit. Chupacabra? Pterodactyl with a jet pack? Who's to say.
I know. We have Mansfield prison here in Ohio and me and some of my family and boyfriend were going to go check it out and stay there at night. I just watched a paranormal show and now I'm not so sure I want to go. Not for the fact that I would get touched or anything but for the simple fact, I'm terrified of something following me home. My boyfriend's dad's house is built on an indian burial ground and I swear that place is haunted. I've had plenty of my own experiences along with what everyone else tells me. Maybe the Chupacabra is stalking you lol
Ha ha, well it better watch out because I have a guardian Corgi!
I think it's a bunch of silly folklore that's gotten out of hand and has sprung itself into a nice little cottage industry for some sleepy border towns. That's about it really.

Like anything paranormal or cryptozoology in nature you have a lot of people who don't have a firm grounding in science who are predisposed to a conclusion misinterpreting or even creating evidence to try to conform to their biases. And man it's depressing that kind of thing was airing on the National Geographic Channel.
Google "cows drained blood" and I found this plausible explanation:

Yep, that's pretty solid. The Skeptic's Dictionary (a really good resource on these things) has a good broad overview with links to further reading as well:

A little snarky, but it's part of their charm. :)
A few years ago I saw a UFO - unidentified. Five lights moving together in a way that I eventually realized didn't fit any possible explanation I could come up with. Recently, while watching "Monsterquest" I saw those same lights on one of the team's videos ---with an explanation. Pterodactyls still exist, and they are bioluminescent. So, I guess I'll believe anything.

Chupacabra? I saw it on X-files. It must be true.

Oh, and my son and I saw a crop circle once. That really was there.
Ha, that's funny that you and I both referenced Pterodactyls! maybe we're on to something. :)

My parents were never ones to buy into the whole alien thing but a long, long time ago they were driving and something like a tiny aircraft or a rocket with a metallic appearance crossed in front of their car at a high speed, barely missing their car. On the other side of there car was a drop off and the object went off the edge, paused then lowered itself out of sight. It couldn't be explained.

Let's not forget the well known Phoenix Lights, first occurring in 1997. There were other incidents, some of which were proven to be pranks or a military air force exercise but that first incident was never explained. I remember when it happened here and the chaos it caused. It was shocking how much coverage the event got. Rarely do supernatural/extraterrestrial events make the news. Still, I'm not sold on aliens myself.
