Is it ok to promote a specific vendor here? I hope so.

There have been some discussions about collars/ leashes here before.

Jack has always walked in a regular snap collar. I have been having two issues/concerns:

1) He's not much of a puller, but he can be a terrible balker. We do almost all our walking in a nearby park. In the summer, lots of people picnic, or walk while eating hot dogs or ice cream cones or french fries. That means lots of crumbs and stuff on the ground.

Combine one very stubborn Corgi who likes to dawdle and sniff, mix in frequently found food crumbs buried in the grass, and what you end up with is a dog who is regularly externally rewarded for misbehaving. Add in the fact that, like most Corgis, he is very highly food motivated, and I would need to absolutely kick his a@# to outweigh the reward he gets from snooping. On "heel" he is normally pretty good, but I do like to let my dog wander and sniff.

2) His neck is a bit larger than his head if you include his rather full ruff. He is capable of backing out of his collar, no matter how tight it is. I do not worry about this on walks, as he has a pretty reliable recall and isn't prone to running off. I DO worry about what would happen at a busy rest area or parking lot when we take him places, were he to back out.

Throw in:

3) He does not wear a collar inside, and since we don't have a fenced yard, we take him out on a leash for potty breaks.

Combine the three, and I wanted a safe slip collar/ lead combo that I can throw on without his collar/tags when running out to potty, or put on over his regular collar on a walk. I didn't want a separate martingale collar as we regularly let him off-leash in wooded areas of the park, so I don't want any sort of slip collar on when he's loose, lest he get hung up and choke himself.

I looked around at lots of slip or martingale collar/lead combos on line, and found this one. I really like it. It's the perfect length; long enough to allow the dog room to sniff to go potty, but not so long that the dog gets away from you in a busy area.

Despite being nylon, it's surprisingly soft, which makes it easy on your hands and on the dogs neck.

The wider diameter means that it isn't so likely to really dig in and hurt the dog, and it loosens itself easily when the dog is on a relaxed lead.

It does work better on its own than with a second collar (as it sometimes gets hung up on the other collar), but it will loosen properly the vast majority of the time, even when worn with another collar.

I hesitate to use a slip collar on a dog that really pulls, because in my experience if they are excited pullers, the collar does not really stop them and they choke themselves. But it is great for balking. Jack cannot plant his little feet and brace against it or the collar tightens, and I don't need to worry about it going over his head. A couple gentle pulls-and-releases easily gets him moving again. And it's so convenient to slip over his head when running him out to the bathroom or getting him out of the car.

I highly recommend it.
