I wish I didn't have to ask this.

I know some of you guys have to own cats. My puppy is still learning "no" and seems to have a fascination with the catbox. If I don't watch him every second, sometimes he wanders into the room where the box is digs in, chows down, and doesn't even bother to look guilty when I tell him "NO."

Any tips on how to limit his access to the poo? The door to the room is closed when I can (when the cats are outside) and I can't move it to another room. Otherwise, the door has to stay open, so he has access. He's also a smart little bugger and takes advantage to go in there for a snack between meals.

I don't know the best way to solve this situation without upsetting the cats, half blocking the door, or making my mother mad because my dog is changing her house.

They sure do! Algy and our old corgi mix - Delilah, they used to go outside in the winter time and eat deer poop. They were like cocoa puffs!

We have the kitty boxes that are covered and have a plastic flap over the opening. This generally keeps the dogs from snacking, unless one of the kitties is mad at us and leaves a "gift" on the bath mat (their way of telling us "Hey dummy! Clean my box!"). Well, at least those are not crunchy like the kind with "sprinkles".

Good luck! This definitely sounds like something we who own corgis and cats have to deal with.

Our cat is feed and her litter box is upstairs, which the dogs aren't allowed. I don't have a gate or anything to stop them from going up. From the time Duncan was little and from the time Chloe was brought to our house, I've always told them no and made them sit at the bottom of the stairs. All they know is dad disappears up there with the cat, hear something with a lid being opened or a rattling in a bowl. Then dad comes down with something in an little bucket and flushes it down the toilet.

When I got Spartan I worried about him getting in our cats litterbox since cat poo is so yummy lol. I've had no problems with him and I have a covered litterbox in one of my bathrooms that I angled enough for only my cat can get in. The swinging door to the litterbox comes off if your cat isn't use to getting in and out of it. I think the litterbox cover with the opening on top would work as well.

I kept the cat box in the basement. The corgi's did not like to go there. Put the cat box somewhere where the corgi can not reach it or in an area that he does not like to go. :) Good Luck!

Mac was taught very quickly when he was younger to not even go near the cats litter box, unles he wanted to be throttled by the cat. It was a hard lesson but he now doesn't bother with the cats litter box at all. We also have a closed litter box with a door. He hasn't figured out how to even get in it in the first place.
