Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program

Hey all! I was looking into Spay Oklahoma today and found out that they will spay (or neuter) puppies under 5 months for $20! That would be so much nicer for me to pay than the $120ish I will ended up paying at my vet's office. I went ahead and made an appontment for Lyla for July 16th (believe it or not, that was the soonest date they had open).

My only concern, was that since it is so cheap they might not use full anesthesia, but only a local anesthetic. I almost don't even have the heart to ask. I don't want to think about my baby being awake during surgery. Has anyone on here used a low-cost clinic for a spay or neuter? What was your experience like? Thanks!

I'm paying $90, and they are using local anesthetic, we go to a high-volume, walk-in community pet clinic. Is it cheap because it's a Humane Society organization? Because then you'll know that they DO have the funding to hire awesome people and perform completely safe and modern procedures. Who is funding this vet clinic? If it's a private vet I'd be suspicious, and ask those questions you have.

The way I understand it they are an organization completely devoted to getting people to spay and neuter their animals and the doctors are all volunteer. For example, a community vet may volunteer one day a month to do surgeries at the clinic.

That sounds really cool. But you need your questions answered anyways. If you're not comfortable with any of it, you can always cancel the apt. I'm ok with Eddy recieving local an., but, yes, a spay procedure is much more invasive.
