Moving @ the end of the month... any training tips??

Hello all! We are moving to a new house (in the same town we're in now) at the end of the month and there are a few ground rules I want to set in place with Lola for the new house. Any help in enforcing these rules would be great!

1. This is MY house, not Lola's. What is the best way to introduce her into the house to let her know she doesn't own the place? She's pretty good at our current house, but she came into it once we were already settled... I want to make sure that doesn't change.

2. No constant barking when she's outside. I know she's a dog & will bark, but I don't want her to think it's ok to go outside & bark her little head off. What is a good way to let her know it's not ok to go crazy outside?

3. I want to designate a 'potty' spot. There are some patches of dirt I would prefer her to use rather than the lawn. What would be the best way to let her know to use these spots?

Anything else I should enforce? Thanks for any help! We're only 2 months away from our first born & I want to make sure I have Lola under control in the new house!! Thanks everyone!

Congrats Laura on the upcoming human addition :)

1. have your friends or family look after her on the day of moving, that will free you up and keep you on task, moving can be a stress for the dogs too. Once everything is settle at the new place, pick Lola up and have her on leash, walk and introduce her to every single room in the house, let her smell every corner, let her take her time, but keep her on leash. Make sure she does not urine mark any places. Always keep 6 bottles of hydrogen peroxide in the house. It will also help to take her for a nice 1 mile long walk around the new neighborhood before entering the new house, this will calm her down and drain off that excitement energy.

2. I'll someone else who's more experienced to answer this.

3. In the morning of that moving day, use a cheap disposable / take out plastic container to collect Lola's number 1 and 2 seperately. Before you take lola to the new place, smear (ewww) the #2 to several areas that you want her to go, the "Water" the #1 areas with your collected sample, that should do it.

Our move went pretty well, I took my dogs (Lorenzo and d'Lilah) to the new house serveral times prior the moving date. both of them were on the leash, the first time they sniffed the place like crazy. we also did plenty of walk before we went into the new house.

But I really don't have any rules as you wish to establish. ;-) , only targets are Lorenzo doesn't mark the new house and both of them are not stressed out by the move. as for the bark you mentioned, you should correct her right away if it is not appropriate, regardless it is in new or old house.
