Obsessively Licking the floor?

I was sitting here with Jasper and he was chewing on a beef knee bone that he's had for a while. All of a sudden, he got up and walked to the side of the couch. I thought maybe he was throwing up, but he was just standing there licking the floor. He hacked a little but then just continued to lick the floor. I made sure he wasn't choking and I did a finger sweep of his throat, but he's been licking the floor nonstop. I took him outside for a little and he just proceeded to lick the concrete. He's never done this before so I don't know if it's something to call the vet about or if he's just got an upset tummy or something. He doesn't seem to be in any immmediate distress, but he's worrying me. Has anyone else's dog ever done this?

Never mind! About 5 minutes after posting this Jasper threw up A LOT and then went back to normal, barking at the squirrels and playing with his toy. I'm gonna keep a close eye on him the rest of the day just to be sure. Thanks anyway everyone!

Oh, I am sorry that Jasper was actually sick. I was going to add that Twinkie licks the carpet ALL the time. It is driving my husband crazy. He will see what he thinks is a piddle spot and then sees that it is a carpet flower (my name for the spots). I think she starts by licking her foot and then goes on to the carpet. It is less than ideal.
