We're laughing pretty hard here right now. LOL! Yep, our corgis are HUGE lickers...of everything! I'm constantly saying, "Quick licking!" We've tried just about everything and have come to the conclusion they're just going to lick. And, yes, it can become obsessive and when it does we correct and stop it.
Franklin is a huge licker too, not so much on people, but he will sit and lick the carpet forever if I don't stop him. I just give him a firm "quit" and he will usually stop for a few minutes. A squirt bottle didn't do much except totally scare him and make him go into a different room and lick the floor.
Bitter apple spray?
I have a corgi and two maltese. One of my maltese has a very bad obsessive licking problem. We have not been able to break him of the habit. The vet told me that if it was too bad we could medicate him for it. He licks everything including the air!! He also transferred this to drinking water. I have counted him taking 100 laps of water. My vet told me to limit him to 1 oz of water per pound in a 24 hour period. Since I have done this it seems his licking has calmed down quite a bit. I hope this helps.
