Hi all! I took Lyla out to potty this morning, she did her businees, and then I picked her up to give her a quick cuddle. When I turned her over on her back, I noticed that instead of just being wet like normal, on her private parts was a thick cloudy yellow substance. Maybe mucus? I have never seen this before so I am a little worried. Does anyone know what this could be? Thanks!

Update: I did call teh vet and explain to him what was going on. He asked if she was acting different or seemed to be in pain or needed to urinate frequently (thinking it could be a UTI). I said I'd only had her a week, so i was still learning her, but she didn't seem to be acting sick and didn't urinate anymore more frequently than I would expect a pup her age to need to. He said it could just be normal for her. Has anyone heard of that being normal for a dog before?

Take her to the vet. It could be an infection and she would need antibiotics. Hope she feels better.
I don't think a thick, cloudy mucus is ever "normal" -- pee should be clear and yellow, thank you very much. Please do go see the vet and see if you can't get a sample of it for him/her to check.
Midas had this happen when we first got him too. It would appear for a short while after pee, we would wipe it away. The next day or two it would be gone. When I asked the vet about it he said it could be allergies or the grass could be making small cuts on the area. Strange, I know. I would definitely have it checked if it persists.
