We just got Kitsie in September 2008, and she's a year old. Unfortunately we do not know any previous history of her since she was picked up as a stray.
We have crate trained her since day one, and she has never peed in her kennel. My husband and I want to move her to a "safe area". Her crate is in the bedroom, which is where we want the safe area. A couple of weeks ago, we started crating her for 4 hours in the morning, then I come home at lunch to let her out, then 4 hours in the safe area, then I come home from work and let her out.
Now, she was doing fine for a week (5 days), and suddenly, one day, she peed on the bed! We do not think she has a UTI, b/c this has happened once before and we've seen signs of a UTI, and she is acting normal. Now, I don't mind her being on the bed when we're not home, b/c I believe I cannot correct something that I am not present for. She never hops up on furniture uninvited while we are present.
We know she can hold it, she holds it all night in her kennel (where the door is open) but I can't figure this one out. Could it be separation anxiety?
