Place one hand under the chest just behind the front paws and the other hand under the pups behind so he's kind of sitting in your hand. As he gets bigger you'll have to wrap your arm around his chest and your other arm under his bottom so your arms are carying the weight rather than just your hand and wrist. The idea is to support the pups weight in front and back. You just don't want to pick them up by the front legs or under the arms as you might a child which leave the hind end dangling. Hope this helps.

No problem Kirby, we're looking out for you (and your Mom). :)
Thanks Aj, I've become quite the pro since Finnigan still won't walk down the stairs. He's a year old, 38 lbs and we live in a second story apartment. People are often surprised by my uperbody strength and I tell them it's because I do Corgi lifting daily. :)

I do the corgi lift daily too! Steve is about 35lbs and I feel every pound especially when he's dog tired and have to lift him up from his laying down position to take him upstairs. Sometimes I think he lays down at the bottom of the stairs on purpose cuz he's too lazy to walk up himself....Reminds me when I was a kid and dad had to carry me upstairs...
We call it the bathing suit method because that is where a girls bathing suit would cover. It's very easy once you get the hang of it, at first its slightly awkward.
