Harry gets the hiccups from time to time. I asked the vet about it and she simply said "some puppies do that." The breeder suggested that it might be from gulping food or water too quickly, but I've been keeping an eye on it and have noticed that Harry also gets the hiccups at random times, when he has not been eating or drinking or even chewing on something.

I'm still concerned because it seems like it must bother him, and I read somewhere that there could be a connection to allergies.

Anyone else with a corgi who hiccups?

Charlie always gets the hiccups. Usually for no reason, it seems. She often just wakes up from a nap and gets them lol. My vet said it was nothing to worry about too.
Stanley used to get hiccups a lot when he was younger. Now, at 8 mos old, he gets them a lot less frequently. Nothing to be worried about.
My Aussie got hiccups as a puppy all the time. He grew out of them around 6 or 7 months old. Nothing to worry about,it just sounds funny! =)
Finnigan used to hiccup all the time when he was younger. After eating, drinking, napping or after doing nothing at all. The vet told us this is normal in puppies and he would only be concerned if an adult dog hiccuped constantly as this could indicate other problems. Finn does it less now at 8 months and i'm sure Harry will get better about it too. :)
When Harry gets the hiccups, give him some natural peanut butter. Just put a bit on the tip of your finger and let him lick it off. It works for my dogs every time, and for me, too! (A teaspoonful for us humans.)
thanks - that's great advice! they actually seem to have gotten less frequent now, but I'll try the peanut butter if I notice them : )
Dax ONLY gets hiccups at random times! They usually don't last long and it doesn't seem to bother him. I wouldn't worry about it unless it's too frequent.
