Quick question.

I am bringing home my 12 week old puppy at the end of the month. My good friend just got an 8 week old puppy. I BELIEVE both puppies should have their second round of shots by then. BUT if they haven't is it safe for them to meet if they have only had their first round of shots? I have all sorts of concerns with Parvo and stuff so just wanted to see what you guys had to say. Thank you!!!

No. Until your pup has had all 3 sets of Parvo shots is it safe to take them anywhere in public or around unvaccinated (or not fully vaccinated) dogs.

A puppy is more at risk from exposure to another puppy than he is from being with a vaccinated adult dog, so play it safe and wait to have them be with each other until the third set of shots is in place for both pups.  It takes awhile to be sure that immunity has actually built up in a pup.

I agree with the comments.   With another puppy that you know and can talk with the owner limiting the exposure to various dogs you should be fine.   But waiting for all the shots would be best as now you'll be able to bring it anywhere.   However, if you plan to bring it to a daycare or boarding, most reputable places will request a minimum of 4 months of age, and every immunizations to show.

Not doing daycare or boarding, it is a friend's puppy but I don't think they are being as cautious as I would be soooo I will probably wait.

Thanks for the replies! I will be waiting to introduce the two puppies till they are fully vaccinated. Thanks!
