Ok, ... not the best topic but i am really scared.

Dusty this morning on our run got run over completly by a bike heading full speed down a pedestrian pathway. he was completely run over, then rolled further down the hill limp into the bush, the bike rider wasnt ok either, taken t hospital etc.

a horrible morning.

NOw in my head al i see if little dusty being squashed and the bike rider in bad shape. both still

dusty is at the vet now, apparently no internal bleeding, i would say a broken foot, leg and ribs.... i just want to know, a few questions and get a few different opinions

1. chance of brain damage
2. chance of him changing, being scared etc. he is such a happy active dog
3. approximate recovery time
4. problems later on in his little life
5. chance of running, although  ust want him to be ok and happy

i feel like a complete failure of a dog owner, the police say i did nothing wrong  - i think it will be a long time until i have kids because i can stand the guilt of hurting my poor pup now

Heather, as usual, I am late to the discussion! I am so glad that Dusty is doing better after his ordeal!! I agree with everyone else, that you cannot blame yourself for what happened - it is totally the blame of the bike rider who was out of control and somewhere he or she was not supposed to be. I wish you all the best. Give your little one lots of hugs and kisses and keep him close
Heather, as for the having kids part......

My human baby was run over by a bicycle on a pedestrian sidewalk. He was walking behind my long skirt, bike didn't see him. He ended up with a big tire shaped bruise on his chest. Matching stain on his shirt.

But still, we have our kids, we have our corgis. We keep on loving them, regardless of the risk.

BTW, I did NOT feel bad about the bike rider's injuries. No one else on that sidewalk seemed to, either.
