Runny stools... help?!
My corgi, Callie, has been having some runny stools lately. The really strange part is that she will have a normal poo then not even 5 minutes later she will go again and it will be runny. She was having the same problem awhile ago, but when we went back to my parents for Spring Break she was fine and had no problems at all. We have been back at my apartment for about a week and a half and her problems started again a couple of days ago.
I live in an apartment building full of dogs, do you think it is a bug/virus?
Is it her food? (As of right now she is eating puppy Science Diet)
Any ideas on what I should do?

She has been alert and active, I haven't noticed any change in her behavior besides for when she really has to go out to go potty. She has also been eating and drinking like normal.

No she has been eating the same food from the same bag. That food is almost gone and she will be switching to adult food soon.

You should have her stool cultured to rule out intestinal parasites. Can give some yogurt to get the intestinal wall healthy. I give yogurt daily to all of my dogs. You can give some pepcid to try and control the diahrrrea. Go w/a bland diet for a day or so, chicken and rice. This is the time of year for it and corgis are scroungers picking things up from the ground. Make sure she doesn't have a temp but w/her being alert and active this is just an upset belly from eating things or alittle bug and should pass w/in a few days w/some care that I've mentioned above.

Atlas had this all the time as a pup, it eventually just stopped.. It might be the food you are on, your dog is maturing so his body might be reacting differently to the food. It couldn't hurt to make sure he doesn't have any parasites.

If there is mucus in the feces, then it's probably a case of colitis (inflammation of the colon). Winston got this twice, and it can be pretty bad if it isn't attended to (by that I mean like, longer than a week), but don't worry, I waited a few days to get him to the vet because I figured it was just a little stomach bug. Hope she feels better soon!

I noticed that it does seem to have mucus... She is going into the vet on Saturday, I will post on how things go!

That is a sign of hookworm. A safe treatment is Panacur Safeguard..Fenbendazole. I just spent 3 1/2 hrs on a conference call w/a vet, Lambert Vet Supply and a bunch of other breeders and we discussed intestinal parasites, fading pups, different medications, sterilization, nutrition, litter size, reproduction and so on. It was an awesome discussion. He even stated Fenbendazole is really safe and can treat Giardia to a point if given for 5 days instead of 3 days. Giardia is very hard to test for and is not accurate but a home test that is very accurate is called the snap test and it test for the protein in Giardia. Also Probiotics is excellent in keeping the GI tract healthy and regulated. I can answer more if you'd like.

Callie started getting better before she even went to the vet, but I still had them run tests and there was no signs of worms or parasites, so they think that she may have just had a virus. She is on a bland diet now and I am going to keep an eye out to see if it returns... I hope it doesn't.
